Polk County Public Schools is proud to offer a rich education in the fine arts in all its schools. Our arts education programs include music, theatre, dance and visual arts.

The arts are a powerful way to reach students, and unlock within them a greater understanding of the cultural dimensions of our world.

Several Polk County schools have earned the Florida Arts Model Schools designation from the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Alliance for Arts Education (FAAE): Chain of Lakes Elementary, Davenport School of the Arts, Haines City High, McLaughlin Middle School and Fine Arts Academy, and Spessard L. Holland Elementary.

Other schools that feature a strong focus on the fine arts include: Harrison School for the Arts, Jewett School of the Arts and Rochelle School of the Arts. Fine Arts academies are also found in Bartow Middle, Lake Gibson Middle, and Mulberry Middle schools. Ridge Community High is developing an arts focus with its Ridge Arts Institute.

A well-rounded fine arts education remains a priority at all of our schools. Through the fine arts, students learn to work together as well as independently, all the while developing their ability to collaborate and work in teams, as well as their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Students learn to work together on projects as well as explore their own individual talents. They are encouraged to be fearlessly creative as they participate in plays, concerts, art exhibitions and more!
