If you plan to pursue a GED, there are two testing sites in Polk County that are directly associated with Polk County Schools. In Lakeland, the West Area Adult School at 604 South Central Avenue can help you, while the East Area Adult School at 300 East Bridgers Avenue in Auburndale serves Auburndale/ Winter Haven/Haines City GED applicants.
In order to take the GED tests you must attend a one time registration and orientation session. These sessions, as well as the actual GED testing are scheduled for the GED Testing Center at the West Area Adult School in Lakeland.
Registration dates are tentative. Orientation and testing sessions are capacity controlled and will close early if capacity is reached.
At the orientation session you will complete a required demographic information packet and the forms necessary for your GED tests. Additionally you will be a shown a video designed to familiarize you with the scientific calculator provided for the math section of the test. Also at this session, you will choose which available test dates to attend.

In an effort to make GED Tests accessible to all applicants, accommodations are made for candidates with diagnosed physical, mental, sensory, or learning disabilities who can provide appropriate documentation from a qualified professional of their impairment and its effect on their ability to take the GED Tests under standard conditions.
Earn Your High School Diploma From The Comfort Of Home!
The GED (General Education Development) is designed to enable individuals who have not graduated from high school to demonstrate the attainment of high school-level skills.
GED Preparation classes are free of charge. Although not required, examinees are encouraged to enroll in GED Preparation classes. Individuals passing the GED Test are awarded the State of Florida High School Diploma.
