For many students, they provide the first work experience; for others, they provide an opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills. Jacket Connections is a non-profit, office service business established to teach students entrepreneurial principles. Jacket Connections provides faculty, students, staff, and community with quality products and services and outstanding customer service while learning invaluable entrepreneurial skills.
Jacket Connections produces business cards, personalized letterhead, note cards, greeting cards and return address labels. Jacket Connection also performs services such as folding, collating, stapling, proofreading, filing and computer services such as typing, and creation of signs, forms, spreadsheets, databases, resumes, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations.

Signs of the Tiger

Signs of the Tiger is a computerized engraving and vinyl sign-making training facility located in the Business Lab at Gause Academy. Students work in teams to work on projects and complete orders. They utilize Microsoft Office Suite to write letters, maintain their customer database, create presentations and keep their balance sheet up to date. Industry standard software is used to design their work for both vinyl and engraving projects.

Digital Design students design yearbook layouts, promote sales, interview coaches, teachers and administrators, and also are responsible for documenting events by the use of photography.
Legend Publishing also produces and markets a yearbook on CD using all of the pictures that were not published in the yearbook. In addition, Legend Publishing also offers a service to the senior parents of creating a CD that showcases their student’s life from infancy through high school.

George Jenkins High School has an innovative Preschool Program that benefits both PCSB employees and students. The Early Childhood Academy is a licensed preschool, on the campus of George Jenkins.
Upon request references can also be provided from other PCSB Employees who have had their children enrolled.

Our preschool serves Ridge Community High School staff children. Each week, Early Childhood Education students provide theme-based lesson plans. These lessons are designed to ensure our preschoolers will be successful when they enter kindergarten. We use the Polk County Schools Kindergarten Readiness Checklist as a guideline. Early Childhood students facilitate activities and provide positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior. Time-out is used as a last resort for inappropriate behavior. The Baby Bolts Preschool Academy provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Our daily schedule consists of circle time, small group activities, center time, and a variety of outdoor activities. We look forward to a very exciting upcoming school year.
Jacket’s Nest serves the faculty once a month through their culinary program and provide refreshments as requested for on campus events.

Hornet’s Nest Café offers weekly faculty take out gourmet lunches, Dinners and casseroles to go, and specialized holiday catering. Advanced culinary students gather, plan, prepare, and market multicultural meals and desserts that are sure to please the most discriminating palate. Students also receive on the job experience as they accept catering jobs through our ProStart community/business partner, Texas Cattle Company of Lakeland.

Thunder Threads” will provide students with opportunities to experience the expectations of the business world. Students will work individually and in teams to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner. Fashion Production students will produce, in class, embroidered products that will be for sale to school organizations, individuals, and local entities. Students will be responsible for every aspect of the business to include advertising, ordering raw materials, helping customers with selections, taking orders, production, packaging, delivery and customer service.

Devils ‘n Stitches offers embroidery on shirts and other personal items, In addition to embroidery, Devils ‘n Stitches students complete community service projects throughout the year such as; Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, “Quotillows”, Red Cross supply bags and “Quilting Hugs”.
