Thank you for your interest in the 2009 National Tournament of Academic Excellence . Many states and US territories have a selection process in place to determine the representative team. However, high schools from the following states and US territories can follow the three steps listed here to apply for consideration of being named their state’s representative team.

One team of six high school students (four members/two alternates) is selected from each state.
A highly academic competition covering these subject areas: language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, the fine arts, technology, and foreign languages (French and Spanish). Each team competes at least twice. Each competition lasts approximately two hours.

Disney's Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Teams take part in this most prestigious national competition for academically talented high school students.
Rooms at the Contemporary Resort are $215 per night (maximum of 5 persons per room). The cost per registrant is $375 and includes one 3-day Park Hopper® theme park pass and eight meals (one breakfast, one brunch, two lunches and four dinners) beginning with Saturday evening's opening reception and concluding with Tuesday evening's awards banquet. Registrations for all attendees must be purchased in advance.
Six team members and one coach will each receive
Each first-, second-, and third-place team member and head coach will receive a ring from Herff Jones, Inc. Each participant will receive a commemorative pin from Herff Jones, Inc.
Six students will be selected regionally to receive $1,000 scholarships.

An Intent to Participate Form must be on file before you complete the application process below. This form must be submitted via email (lisa.rawls@polk-fl.net) or via fax (863-968-5169).
The following is needed as part of your application packet to be submitted by March 13 for consideration by our selection committee:
1) A letter from your school principal or school district superintendent (whichever is appropriate) giving permission to apply and attend if selected.
2) A team profile listing the competitions your team has participated in during THIS school year. This should include the number of teams at each competition as well as the results. Any supporting media coverage is welcome.
3) An "Individual Profile" sheet completed by EACH of your six team members. That form is available here for download.
