2008 Team

Qualifications

  1. The student must be a member of a Commissioner's Academic Challenge district team.
  2. The student should plan to attend the Awards Banquet, April 12, 2008.
  3. A Consent & Release form must be completed and on file in the state tournament office.
  4. The student must be willing to make a commitment of time from June 5-10, 2008.

Selection

  1. Coach's Ranking: Coaches may use the following criteria in ranking their team members.
*Number of overall questions answered in contest(s) prior to the state tournament.
    *Role as a team player.
*Individual statistics, previous recognitions, overall G.P.A., etc.
    • It is sometimes difficult to choose one student over another; however, it is necessary for each coach to rank their six team members. These recommendations are critical in the selection process. No ties in ranking are permitted!
  2. Individual Scoring: This takes place by designated evaluators. Because this contest is a team effort, any playing team member may answer questions during competition. Students are observed for accuracy of responses, assisting team members and sportsmanship.
  3. The coaches of each division-winning district select one member of TEAM FLORIDA from their team, thus filling three of the six places on TEAM FLORIDA.
  4. The selection of the remaining three members of TEAM FLORIDA is made by a committee of evaluators based on coach ranking and individual scoring.
