Overview
Incentives will be tracked by STS. All incentives are the property of Polk County Public Schools. They will remain assigned to participant as long as the participant remains an employee of Polk County Schools Public Schools. Should the participant leave the district, the incentive should remain at the school. If a participant moves within the district, the incentive may move with the individual.
- Provide incentives for proficiency as long as monies are available.
- Only one incentive will be awarded per year per person in any area pursued.
- Tech I Proficiency should be pursued in the area of the staff member position.
- Proficiency levels should be pursued in sequence. Levels may not be skipped.
- Provide section numbers for training and tracking of technology
- Post points for only district-wide training.
- Workshop pay will be issued only when paperwork is complete and submitted to STS office within one month of training date.
- STS will continue to work with technology training task forces to improve and monitor each area's training program.
- Area Technology Steering Committees (Admin Council, Network Manager Council) will meet a minimum of once per semester to review training direction for respective areas.
Guidelines for Incentives
- Participants may earn more than one proficiency within one school year.
- Participants may receive only one incentive per school year.
- If participant chooses to earn proficiency in more than one area (example: teacher and network manager), he/she must choose only one area in which they will select an incentive.
- Teachers attaining Teacher Technology Proficiency Level III must be accepted in a BBT009 in order to receive an incentive for Teacher Tech III. This is due to budgeting and funding issues. All workshops required for Tech III are available to individuals. Teachers not enrolled in BBT009 may still attain Tech III proficiency, but will not receive an incentive for attaining this level.
- All incentives are the property of the Polk County School Board. Incentives should be used for the enhancement of student technology in the classroom.
Administrator Incentives:
The Blackboard online management module which tracks administrator proficiency (BBA1000 Administrator Technology Proficiency) will be reviewed monthly and the gradebook will be updated. Participants may view their gradebook by logging into their Blackboard BBA1000 Module. After gradebook is updated, those who attained a proficiency level will be issued an incentive and certificate.
Network Manager Incentives:
Network Manager courses will be reviewed in December and in April for attainment of proficiency. Incentives and certificates will be awarded in December and in April.

Teacher Tech Levels I and II
- The incentive for a score of 80% or above in each of the six areas of the inventory will be a flash drive. A certificate will be issued for Teacher Technology Proficiency Levels I and II. ONLY ONE INCENTIVE will be awarded for successful inventory completion.
- To receive incentives, the inventory site coordinator should complete the Incentive Spreadsheet for the ITTS. This spreadsheet template is available in the Outlook Public Folders under Network Managers.
- Penny Cook will review the spreadsheet and verify participant scores using the DOE online database.
- Incentives will be sent to either the ITTS School Site Coordinator or the individual recipients.
- Deadlines for submitting the spreadsheet template with names for incentives for the ITTS will be the first working day of each month. Every effort will be made to distribute the flash drives to the schools in a timely manner.

Posting Compass Inservice Points
School Site Training Requirements
Follow the same process for planning CompassLearning professional development as for any other professional development delivered at your school. If the activity at your school does not meet the criteria below, it is probably a training activity, not a professional development activity. Certification points are not earned for training.
- Needs Assessment – identify staff needs and goals based on student needs and goals.
- Is the activity related to a Component in the District Master In-service Plan?
- Is the activity related to the School Improvement Plan? IPGPs?
- Is there a statement of purpose and specific learning objectives written for the activity, and will participants be assessed in relation to the specified objectives?
- Is there a plan to ensure professional development is delivered to the staff in an effective manner (principal/administrator attendance at professional development is an expectation for this to occur)?
- If the expectation is that the professional development will result in application of the knowledge/skill acquired in the classroom, does the follow up include coaching and reflection time for participants?
- Have the specific follow-up methods been identified?
If the answers to 1-7 above are yes, this activity is probably staff development and the school will want to follow HRD procedures to award points to participants who attend the activity AND complete the follow-up requirements.
