The Shining Star Award began as a project to promote collaboration among the technology leaders in Polk County Schools and has developed into a vehicle for recognizing the successful application of technologies within school programs as well as encouraging the adaptation of new ideas that will enhance learning for the next generation.

Excent is a web-based IEP system which is used to create and track all Special Ed students and data.
All classes will discuss the integration of technology with effective instructional strategies. Direct instruction and hands on experience will be given during all technology classes. This will be followed by individual projects and/or a skills check. A follow-up assignment is required from ALL participants. ALL training will be held at the FDLRS Technology Lab at the Bartow Airbase. All FDLRS classes count towards Polk County Tech certification. Participants are asked to bring a snack to share.
