Polk County Public Schools offers free assistance for teachers preparing for the FTCE General Knowledge Test.
Throughout the year, the Office of Professional Development schedules face to face review classes for the Math, English and Essay portions of the FTCE General Knowledge Test. Classes are free for district employees and some charter school participants; the cost for those out of district is $100.

An online class is available for those preparing for the FTCE General Knowledge Reading subtest. This self-paced class is offered at no charge to district employees and some charter school participants. Those interested must first take this online survey. After completing the essay survey, the participants will be issued instructions on how to access the class.
The Florida Department of Education Provides videos with test-taking hints and tricks and advice on how to study/what to study for the FTCE Teacher Exams. You can find those recordings here.

It is important that you review the information about the FTCE General Knowledge Test provided by the testing contractor Pearson and the FLDOE. The Test Information Guide provides a sample test and a table with the Competencies and Skills tested. Additionally, the Bibliography in the back of this booklet provides the sources for all of the questions on the General Knowledge Test. The General Knowledge Test Information provides complete information about the reading, math, English, and essay General Knowledge subtests. You can also register to take the test on that site.

We suggest textbooks to study and prepare for the subject area tests. The PCSB Surplus Property Warehouse located on Route 60 in Bartow is open on Thursdays during the school day. They have discarded textbooks for all subjects and is a good resource for finding free study materials.
