ACE Online

In accordance with Florida statutes, the ACE program is designed to provide mid-career professionals, paraprofessionals or recent non-education college graduates the opportunity to fulfill instructional requirements to qualify as an educator. After completing either the ACE program, the participant may seek a professional teaching certificate.

Requirements to enroll in either program are:

  • Hold at least a bachelor's degree.
  • Secure a full-time, paid instructional position with Polk County School District in a position that does not vary from day to day.
  • Meet the subject area requirement by achieving a passing score on an FLDOE Subject Area Exam for the subject area taught.
  • Acquire a Florida Temporary Teaching Certificate.
  • Self Pre-Assessment: Participants in the ACE program are assessed for knowledge of the Educator Accomplished Practices.

ACE (Online) Program

ACE is provided online through the FLDOE Ed-Ventures program. Participants work at their own pace with the temporary teaching certificate providing the timeline for completion. Please review the most current application for additional information.

Face-to-face orientations are provided to assist participants in beginning the online program. A schedule is provided below.

Instructors

ACE is a competency-based, on-the-job program. Participants complete tasks under the guidance of online tutors, most of whom are National Board Certified teachers of Polk County Schools. These teachers have dedicated themselves to the ACE Program and helping alternative certification teachers since the beginning of the program.
