Power Up Polk

This half-day second grade program is designed to support and remediate foundational reading skills and to increase the literacy skills of students in grades K-2! (Principal Recommendation and specific entry criteria will apply due to limited seating in that program.)

Dates/Times

Instructional Days: June 4th, 2018 – June 28th, 2018 (Monday – Thursday)

Instructional Times: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (5 hours per day and includes lunch)

By invitation only based on Reading proficiency.

Only for students scoring Level 1 on Grade 3 Reading FSA

This half-day program is designed to support current 3rd grade students who scored a Level I on the Spring 2018 FSA ELA assessment. FL State Statute 1008.25 requires grade 3 students scoring a Level I on the Spring 2018 FSA ELA to attend summer recovery and demonstrate reading proficiency for promotion to grade 4. This program will utilize a district designed reading curriculum using multiple resources to support third grade reading standards. Additionally, students will be engaged in targeted learning sessions for remedial support in the essential components of reading through phonemic awareness centers, computer centers, etc.

This summer program is designed to support middle and high school Algebra I students needing to recover an Algebra I course grade of D or F and/or End Of Course (EOC) Exam. Attending students will receive daily instruction on the fundamental concepts of algebra. Students will also receive remediation designed to prepare them for retaking the EOC exam in July 2018.

Priority by grade levels. Seniors needing credit for graduation have priority.

Algebra students must attend both sessions.

This summer program is designed to support students who need to recover a course, in middle school; and a credit, in high school. Algebra I curriculum is Math Nation other courses for middle school and high schools will utilize Edgenuity.

This full-day early childhood program promotes student academic growth by supporting increase proficiency in reading, math, and social and emotional development. Current year VPK Certificate of Eligibility is required.

Wednesday, May 30th- Friday,June 1st, 2018 from 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m and June 4th-June 29th (Monday – Thursday)from 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

This program supports students who’s Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) specify the need for an extended school year program.
