Crisis Intervention Team

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a multidisciplinary Student Services Team which consists of school counselors, school psychologists, and school social workers. The team is organized by areas, each with 2 or more team leaders. The Crisis Team has goals of prevention, intervention, and postvention. The team uses the PREPaRE model developed by the National Association of School Psychologists. Team members are certified in PREPaRE, which is an evidence-based crisis intervention model. Services provided by the CIT include:

  • Multi-tiered interventions in the aftermath of the death of a teacher, student, parent, or other significant loss.
  • Training and support following a local or community disaster.
  • Intervention and risk assessment with potentially suicidal and/or homicidal students and adults.
  • District-wide training on crisis topics.
  • Crisis prevention and awareness activities.
  • Networking with community agencies on crisis intervention and mental health issues.

If the Crisis Team is needed, the school principal or designee contacts Sherry Scott (519-8998), Jim Maxwell (534-0958) or Audrey Kelley-Fritz (291-5355). Details of the intervention are discussed to plan for the needs of the students and school staff.
School board employees may go to Public Folders in Outlook -> Student Services -> Crisis Intervention for policies, procedures, and other resources. If you have any questions about the Crisis Intervention Team, please contact Sherry Scott, Jim Maxwell or Audrey Kelley-Fritz.
