Polk County Public Schools Reminders for the 2018-2019 School Year

August 02, 2018

Below are a few important reminders from Polk County Public Schools for the upcoming school year:

Students will return for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.

Polk County Public Schools will NOT be imposing a districtwide ban on backpacks and lunchboxes, and will NOT require clear backpacks or lunchboxes for the 2018-19 school year.

However, individual schools can impose restrictions on backpacks and lunchboxes. Parents and guardians should check with their child’s school to see if any restrictions are in place for the upcoming school year.

Please be advised that trench coats are prohibited districtwide this year. Hooded sweatshirts are acceptable, but hoods may not be worn during school hours.

Student identification badges will be provided to students in grades 6 – 12 to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. Students must wear these ID badges around their necks at all times while on school grounds.
