The Polk County School Board will hold a public hearing on Monday (Oct. 30) regarding the current impasse in collective bargaining negotiations with the Polk Education Association (PEA).
The public hearing will begin at 5 p.m. at the Jim Miles Professional Development Center, 5204 U.S. Highway 98 South in Lakeland.
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the special magistrate’s report and specific recommendations and rejections in the matter of the School Board of Polk County and the Polk Education Association (PERC Case No. SM-2017-002), resolving the 2016-2017 Issues at Impasse, pursuant to §447.403, Florida Statutes.
The School Board will also attend a meeting with Polk County’s legislative delegation on Tuesday (Oct. 31) to discuss items for the 2018 legislative platform.
The meeting will be held from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Florida Department of Citrus, 605 E. Main Street in Bartow.
