Superintendent’s Scholars Awards to Honor Top Graduating Polk Seniors

April 14, 2017

The top high school seniors from Polk County Public Schools will take center stage on Thursday, April 20, 2017 during the third annual Superintendent’s Scholars Awards.

The ceremony will recognize 803 seniors for their outstanding educational achievements; Superintendent’s Scholars include graduating seniors who have earned a 3.8 GPA or higher by their seventh semester.

Each student will have an opportunity to introduce themselves, announce their college or career plans, and receive a medallion as a symbol of their accomplishment to be worn at graduation later this year.

“We are proud to celebrate these high school seniors, who represent the top graduates this year from Polk County Public Schools,” said Superintendent Jacqueline M. Byrd. “These students have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and we know they are ready to succeed at the next level.”

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in The Lakeland Center’s Youkey Theatre, 701 W. Lime St., Lakeland.

The event is not open to the general public due to limited seating. Members of the news media are invited to attend.
