New Polk County Public Schools Administrators Announced

The Polk County School Board approved the following appointments by Superintendent Jacqueline M. Byrd during the School Board’s June 28, 2016 meeting:

Cynthia Cangelose, Principal of Mulberry Middle
Ms. Cangelose was the acting principal of Mulberry Middle. She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary social science and a master’s in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.


David Denbow, Director of Accounting
Mr. Denbow previously served as the budget coordinator for Collier County Public Schools. He has a bachelor’s degree in science and accounting from Ashland University.


Russ Donnelly, Principal of Ridge Community High
Mr. Donnelly was the acting principal of Ridge Community High. He has a bachelor’s degree in science education from the University of South Florida, and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.


Lacy Emmerling, Assistant Principal of George Jenkins High
Ms. Emmerling was an acting assistant principal at George Jenkins High. She has degrees in English and journalism from Florida Southern College, and an educational leadership certification from the University of South Florida.


Dorothy Ewing, Assistant Principal of Sikes Elementary
Ms. Ewing was an acting assistant principal at Sikes Elementary. She has a bachelor’s degree from Barry University and a master’s from National Louis University.


Tracey Flowers, Assistant Principal of Philip O’Brien Elementary
Ms. Flowers previously served as a reading interventionist and Title I facilitator at Padgett Elementary. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southeastern University and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She also is working toward a doctorate in educational leadership from Capella University.


Kerri Foster, Assistant Principal of Southwest Elementary
Ms. Foster was an acting assistant principal at Southwest Elementary. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s in educational leadership from Southeastern University.


Marc Hutek, Assistant Superintendent of Career, Technical, Adult and Multiple Pathways
Mr. Hutek previously served as director of adult education for Hillsborough County Public Schools. He has a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s in counselor education from the University of South Florida. He also has a specialist degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University and is working toward a doctorate in educational leadership from National Louis University.


Gregory Lewis, Assistant Principal of Ridge Community High
Mr. Lewis was an acting assistant principal at Ridge Community High. He has a bachelor’s degree in communication/marketing from Morehead State University, and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.


Gale MacLeod, Assistant Principal of Medulla Elementary
Ms. MacLeod was an acting assistant principal at Medulla Elementary. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Florida State University, and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.


Talley Miller, Assistant Principal of Crystal Lake Middle
Ms. Miller was an acting assistant principal at Crystal Lake Middle. She has a bachelor’s in history, secondary education from Westminster College and a master’s in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.


Heidi Morgan, Principal of Lena Vista Elementary
Ms. Morgan previously served as an assistant principal at Stambaugh Middle. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Warner Southern College, and a master’s in educational leadership from Stetson University.


Ismael Portillo, Assistant Principal of Auburndale High
Mr. Portillo previously held the title of Assistant Principal II at Auburndale High. He has a bachelor’s degree in church and youth ministry from Warner University and a master’s in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.


Diane Rosebrough, Principal of Snively Elementary
Ms. Rosebrough was the acting principal of Snively Elementary. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Michigan University and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.


Joy Scott, Assistant Principal of Ben Hill Griffin Elementary
Ms. Scott previously served as a math coach/reading support at Spook Hill Elementary. She has degrees in educational computing and technology from Barry University, as well as a specialist degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
