More ways to keep up with the latest news from Polk County Public Schools:
Under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Learning Support Nancy Woolcock, the Learning Support Division participated again this year in a food drive for families in need, during the Thanksgiving holiday. The Division includes the Exceptional Student Education Department, Student Services and the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System (FDLRS). The Sunshine Committee contacted county social workers Margie Opio, Jennifer Rojas, Gail Kimsey and Hearth Project’s social worker Nakita Scott to help them locate families in schools who were in need of food for the holiday. All of the school personnel located at the Bartow Airbase, donated the many food items to make the thanksgiving dinners special. Wal-Mart and Publix donated gift cards to purchase turkeys. This is the 3rd year in a row that the Division has helped local families enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving meal!
