Lakeland’s Lake Gibson Middle led Polk County by winning 13 medals at the 2010 Family, Career and Community Leaders Of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held over the summer in Chicago. FCCLA is a national career and technical student organization in family and consumer sciences education.
Winter Haven High students won four medals at the national event and Lakeland’s Lake Gibson High students won two medals.
In addition to competitive events, the national conference included workshops, career exploration, FCCLA officer trainings and motivational speakers.
