A site selection committee will meet to discuss a proposed site for a new elementary school in southwest Polk County in the Lakeland-Mulberry area. The site selection committee will meet on Monday, September 15, 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the facilities conference room of the district administrative offices, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. The proposed site is on the east side of Bailey Road, south of Shepherd Road and north of State Road 60. The meeting will include a presentation about the site from the Central Florida Regional Planning Council. The Florida Department of Education has notified school districts about new dates for administration of the 2008-2009 FCAT tests in reading, math and science. The new dates are Tuesday, March 10 to Thursday, March 19. Since the FCAT norm-referenced test is no longer part of testing, the FDOE reduced the FCAT testing window for reading, math and science from the original 10-day period to its current eight days, March 10 to March 19.
