The Polk School District College Fair is Tuesday, September 7, 2010, 6 to 8 p.m. at Florida Southern College’s Jenkins Field House, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland.
Public and private colleges and universities from Florida and out-of-state will participate. Scheduled to attend include Harvard University, Vanderbilt University, Mercer University, Southern Methodist University and Michigan State University. Students and parents from public, private, charter and home schools are invited to attend and speak with college and university representatives about programs of study, admission, housing, scholarships, financial assistance and other issues. There is no charge to attend.

College and postsecondary planning seminars are scheduled for area high schools in September. Students and parents of public, private, charter and home schools, ninth through twelfth grades, are invited to the seminars at any of the locations. There is no charge to attend.
Each seminar includes the following topics: curriculum required for college admission, the admissions process, Bright Futures updates, the scholarship search, the FACTS.org online student advising system in Florida, college essays, interviews, campus visits and a financial assistance overview.
