22 Teachers Nominated For Excellence In Science, Mathematics Instruction

Twenty-three Polk teachers have been nominated for a teaching award in science or mathematics in a program of the Central Florida Public School Boards Coalition (CFPSBC) and the PRISM organization. PRISM is an acronym for Promoting Regional Improvement in Science and Math in the nine-county region that makes up the CFPSBC.

Each of the 23 teachers has been nominated for an Exemplary Science or Mathematics Teacher Award. Each of the nominees will receive prizes during a September event at Lakeland’s Southeastern University. The schools of each nominee will also receive funds earmarked for assisting science and mathematics instruction.

Four Polk teachers will be named Exemplary Science or Mathematics Teacher Award winners during the September event. Nominees are listed according to school location:

PRISM has an objective of producing math and science scholars from the nine counties that make-up the Central Florida Public School Boards Coalition---Brevard, Hillsborough, Lake, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia.

As a way of reaching this objective, PRISM and CFPSBC are working to support recruiting, retaining and developing teachers in science and mathematics.
