More ways to keep up with the latest news from Polk County Public Schools:
City of Lakeland Mayor Gow B. Fields recently presented a Letter of Proclamation commending teachers and staff at Dixieland Elementary for their tireless dedication to increasing student performance.
Dixieland Elementary remains an ‘A’ school and is the highest performing Title I elementary school in Polk County. Title I, a federal education-funding program, provides funding for high poverty schools to help students who are behind academically or at risk of falling behind.
The mayor officially declared Monday, August 13, “Dixieland Elementary School Day” in recognition of the exemplary academic achievements of the students and staff. Principal Debbie Henderson was recognized as the instructional leader of the school and given the ‘Key to the City.’
Dixieland Elementary has been serving the local community since it opened its doors in 1924. The mission of the school is to ensure Lifelong Enthusiastic Achievement that is Rigorous and Relevant in a Nurturing environment (LEARN).
