Orlando’s most famous resident, Mickey Mouse and a Walt Disney World ambassador attended a 2010 school board meeting and announced donations totaling $50,000 to the Polk Public Schools and a school district partner.
Disney donated a $30,000 grant to the school district for a summer education program and $20,000 to the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County for the coalition’s pre-school programs.
Disney also donated 1,000 backpacks with school supplies to schools in the Four Corners area of Polk, Osceola, Lake, Orange and Seminole counties.
