Career Education Clubs of Florida, DECA State Winners

Career Education Clubs of Florida

Sixteen Polk high school students earned awards at the Career Education Clubs of Florida (CECF) state conference held in Orlando. CECF clubs at high schools assist students with job-related experience and promote in-depth student investigation into high wage/high skill careers. State CECF award winners are listed by school with placed earned and competition category.

Bartow High: Justin Hoyt, fifth, government; Ashley Knight, third, child care and first, food and nutrition; Brian Morris, fifth, industrial technology; Jessica Sellers, sixth, medical office procedures; Kayla Smith, second, hospitality and sixth, food and nutrition; Sheana Uria, third, customer service and fifth, nutrition; Natalie White, second, business law.

Lake Gibson High (Lakeland): Michael Pescarino, first, automotive technology.

Lake Region High (Eagle Lake): Christina Barton, second in human resources, first in Web site development and fifth, food and nutrition; Carol Brammer, first, Web site development; Yael Broaders, sixth, word processing; Cley Bryan, fifth, affiliation pin design; Jessica Kintner, third, photography; Hunter McCormick, fourth, graphics design promotion; Jordan Rowley, first, medical office procedures and second, career research project; Dimple Patel, sixth, financial math and analysis.

DECA Career Development State Conference

Nine students from Eagle Lake’s Lake Region High and six from Davenport’s Ridge Community High won awards at the DECA career development state conference held in Orlando. DECA is formerly known as the Distributive Education Clubs of America. DECA supports the development of student skills in marketing, management, hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship. Lake Region High and Ridge Community High also won DECA chapter awards at the state conference for various projects.

Individual Lake Region High students winning awards at the DECA state conference were Chelsey Bailey, Denise Budde, Kristina Higgins, Jessica Holley, Krista Parsons, Alyssia Philbrick, Brian Trank, Kate Wannemacher and Sommer White.

Individual Ridge Community High students winning awards at the DECA state conference were Centoria Anderson, Daniel Eldridge, Marwell Lopez, Serina Marshall, Ashley Wilson and Christine Wong.
