Polk County Public Schools
Nearly 90 public school students had their science projects judged as superior in the Polk Elementary Science Fairs held during the latter part of the 2009-2010 school year. Two fairs were held to accommodate a large number of entries. More than 360 students in 75 elementary schools participated. Students selected a topic of interest for their science fair projects and determined a question about the topic that could be answered through measurable experimentation. Projects were assessed by judges from science-related businesses and industries and science instructors from the elementary through university level. All students received a ribbon and certificate for participating. Superior Award winners received an additional ribbon and a medallion.
