Thirteen graduates of Polk County high schools were honored by the school district for accumulating at least 1,000 hours each of community service during their high school careers. They are listed by school with the organizations or groups where they volunteered or provided community service. Ross Spencer, a graduate of Lakeland’s George Jenkins High, amassed 2,967 hours of community service with the Paws With A Cause organization. He accumulated the most community service hours of any member of the class of 2009. The thirteen graduates listed here were responsible for almost 18,000 hours of community service.
