Laura Mastrangelo, a fifth grade teacher at Winter Haven’s Jewett School Of The Arts, is one of 200 teachers nationally to be selected for the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy being held in Jersey City, N.J. next month from July 18 to 23.
Professional golfer Phil Mickelson and his wife Amy have a foundation that partnered with ExxonMobil in this endeavor. Teachers from across the country will learn innovative math and science teaching skills at the academy. This is an intensive, one-week, all-expenses paid professional development program.
Laura was chosen to attend by a panel of educators from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Science Teachers Association based on her qualifications, dedication and commitment.

James A. Harrison, Jr., a teacher at Bartow High/International Baccalaureate/Summerlin Academy, was selected as Science Teacher Of The Year by the Central Florida Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
James was recognized at a recent AIChE meeting and the organization donated $500 to his school.
