School Board Schedule, Public Hearing, Hall Of Fame and Honor Graduates Broadcast

June Workshop, Board Meeting Schedule

The following is the June 2010 school board workshop and meeting schedule. Workshops are held in the superintendent’s conference room of the district administrative office and meetings are held in the auditorium of the district administrative office. Tuesday, June 22 – 12:30 p.m., workshop, 5 p.m., board meeting

Public Hearing

A previous announcement regarding a public hearing for the Tuesday, June 8 school board meeting listed an incorrect time for the hearing. The hearing is to consider revisions to the 2010-2011 staffing plan and will held no earlier than 1:31 p.m., June 8 in the auditorium of the district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. Hall Of Fame And Honor Graduates Event To Be Broadcast Live

The 2010 Polk County Public Schools Hall Of Fame and Honor Graduates event will be broadcast live on cable and fiber optic television and the Internet beginning at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 10. The event includes the induction of four new members into the Polk Public Schools Hall Of Fame and honoring the valedictorians and salutatorians of each public high school.

2010 inductees into the Hall of Fame are poet laureate JoAnn Balingit, Florida Supreme Court Justice Charles T. Canady, business executive and consultant Debi Einmo and artist Robert Stackhouse. Click here for further information about the Hall Of Fame and Honor Graduates event.

The broadcast will originate from Lake Wales’ Lake Ashton Country Club, site of the event. The event will air live on Polk County School Board Television, Bright House channel 614, Comcast channel 7 and Verizon FiOs channel 45. The event will also be shown simultaneously on Polk Government Television, PGTV, on Bright House channel 622, Comcast channel 5 and Verizon FiOs channel 20. The event can also be seen live on the school district’s Web site, www.polk-fl.net and the county government’s Web site, www.polk-county.net.
