The 2012 Polk County All-Star Academic Team Shines at the Commissioner’s Academic Challenge

The 2012 Polk County All-Star academic team placed 3rd in the Division I state championship at the Commissioner’s Academic Challenge held in April at Walt Disney World.

The Commissioner’s Academic Challenge is a highly academic statewide high school tournament in which districts compete for the title. The districts are placed in three divisions.

Each team consists of six members and a coach. Players are asked questions from the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, the fine arts, world languages (French and Spanish) and technology.

The first Commissioner’s Academic Challenge tournament took place in 1986.
