Special Board Meetings

The school board will meet in special meetings to discuss and authorize changes in the school district’s financial bonding program. The meetings will be held 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 26 and 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 9. The regularly scheduled school board meetings of May 26 and June 9 will begin immediately following the special meetings concerning the bonding. The bonding meetings and the school board meetings will be held in the auditorium of the school district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. Sales Tax Oversight Committee Meeting

The public is invited to a Tuesday, June 16 sales tax oversight committee to be held in the library media center of Alta Vista Elementary, 801 Scenic Highway, Haines City. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. The sales tax oversight committee, composed of community members, was formed by the school district after voters approved a 2003 referendum authorizing an additional ½-cent sales tax for school construction. Public Hearing

A public hearing will be held during the school board meeting of Tuesday, June 23 to consider renewal contracts for seven charter schools. The public hearing will begin no earlier than 5:30 p.m., June 23 in the auditorium of the school district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow.

The school board will consider renewal contracts for Chain of Lakes High (Winter Haven), Hartridge Academy (Winter Haven), Discovery Academy (Lake Alfred), McKeel Academy (Lakeland), South McKeel Elementary (Lakeland), Ridgeview Global Studies (Davenport) and Our Children’s Academy (Lake Wales).
