On Saturday, April 14, George Jenkins High School played host to the 2012 Florida State JROTC Drill Competition. 96 schools from across the state were represented as they competed at the Lakeland high school. This equated to about 2,000 cadets from various school districts.
The cadets competed in 18 events in which judges rated cadets based on precision and technique displayed during routines. The competition was fierce and very competitive throughout the day as teams battled it out to place first through fifth place.
The winning teams and individuals went on to represent their schools in the 2012 National High School Drill Team Competitions that recently wrapped up in Daytona Beach. That competition started Saturday, May 5th and ended Monday, May 7th.
