CORRECTION: Polk Video Awards Take Place Today

In a press release sent out on Monday, April 30 at 4:54 p.m. it was announced that the 20th Annual Polk Video Awards would be broadcast live on both Polk County School Board Television and Polk Government Television (PGTV). This year’s event will not be broadcast live on either channel. If you would like to watch the event live, please visit PGTV’s website: http://www.polk-county.net/.

The public is invited to the Polk Video Awards scheduled for Tuesday, May 1 at Victory Church located at 1401 Griffin Road, Lakeland, Fl 33809. Come and see student-produced videos that include documentaries, animations, music videos and school news broadcasts. The elementary awards event begins at 5 p.m. followed by the middle and high school awards at approximately 7 p.m.

The Video Awards, Polk’s version of Hollywood’s Academy Awards, are free to attend. The creative works of 5,000 students representing 68 schools will be featured. Many works from the local Video Awards have gone on to win awards at the state, national and international level since the local awards program began in 1992.
