Business partners, future business partners and community members gathered at George Jenkins High School Auditorium earlier this month for the Inaugural 2012 George Jenkins High School Academy Summit. The summit featured keynote speakers, academy presentations and panel discussions in hopes of encouraging community members to take an active role in preparing students for post-secondary education or employment.

To achieve this goal, community members were given the opportunity to serve as advisory board members, offer input on curriculum, donate professional items, make monetary contributions and provide locations for student internships and academy visits.

Polk County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sherrie B. Nickell made a guest appearance at the event.
