More ways to keep up with the latest news from Polk County Public Schools:
Polk County Public Schools is getting a jumpstart on Earth Day 2012 celebrations. Polk County Public Schools will participate in the 3rd Annual Green Celebration Concert and Showcase scheduled to take place on Friday, April 20th, 2012. The free public event will be held at the Lake Mirror Promenade, 121 S. Lake Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801. The festivities start at 6 p.m.
Make sure to look for students, staff and faculty from nearly 20 Polk County Public Schools. They will be participating in the creation of a display or project that will explain what each of their respective schools is doing to go green and how these actions are turned into lessons for the staff, students and parents.
Polk County Public Schools staff and students are encouraged to participate. Each winner of the elementary and secondary divisions will receive the following prizes:
Judge’s Choice Award: 1st Place- $500, 2nd Place- $200, 3rd Place- $100
People’s Choice Award: 1st Place- $250, 2nd Place- $100, 3rd Place- $50
On April 22, billions of people from around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012. People of all nationalities and backgrounds will mobilize to send a clear message: appreciate the planet and demand its protection.
