A previously announced school board special work session scheduled for Monday, April 6 has been cancelled.
Lake Gibson High is hosting a golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, April 25 to benefit Lake Gibson High athletic teams. The four-person scramble format begins with a shotgun start on April 25, 8 a.m. at Lakeland’s Golf Club at Bridgewater. The cost is $60 per person, $240 per team. Awards will be given to the first, second and third place teams and for longest drive and closest to the pin. A raffle will also be held. Hole sponsors are also sought. A meeting will be held Wednesday, April 29 for persons interested in learning about the application process to open a new charter school in Polk County. The meeting is considered essential for any groups planning to submit an application to start a new charter school.
The meeting will be April 29, 2:00 p.m. in the superintendent’s conference room of the school district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. Attendees at this meeting will learn about requirements of charter applicants and school board policies regarding charter schools.
