The Polk Public Schools are holding a meeting for parents of exceptional student education (ESE) students on Thursday, March 27, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the school district’s building located at the Bartow Municipal Airport.
The purpose of the meeting is to form a parent advisory committee whose goal will be to strengthen the home to school relationship for ESE parents and to keep parents informed about issues related to special education.

The Polk Public Schools are having an information session on April 10 for those interested in becoming a teacher in Polk County. The session will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10 at Ridge Community High, 500 West Orchid Drive, Davenport.
The meeting will discuss the steps to become a teacher and application requirements for individuals with the following qualifications:
--holding a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university but did not major in education
--holding a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in education
--holding a valid Florida certificate for full-time teaching
--holding a valid out-of-state certificate for full-time teaching

A meeting will held April 11 for persons interested in learning about the application process to open a new charter school in Polk County. The meeting is considered essential for any groups planning to submit an application to start a new charter school.
The meeting will be Friday, April 11, 8:30 a.m., in the superintendent’s conference room of the school district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. Attendees at this meeting will learn about school board policies regarding charter schools and requirements of charter applicants.
