Public Invited To Upcoming Fine Arts Events

High School Band Concerts

Twenty-one high school bands will perform in concerts on March 6 and March 7 at Lakeland’s Tenoroc High. The bands will perform in 30-minute intervals over the two days. The concerts are from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 and from 9 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. The public is invited to attend during any part of the two days and there is no cost to attend. The event includes the music of concert bands, symphonic bands, wind ensembles and wind symphonies. Congressional Art Show Reception

The public is invited to a reception of the Creative Youth: 12th Congressional District Art Show on Saturday, March 14. The art show features the best work of high school students residing in the 12th Congressional District. The reception on March 14 is at 11 a.m. at the Polk Museum of Art, 800 Palmetto Street, Lakeland. There is no cost to attend. Artwork chosen as Best In Show goes to Washington, D.C. where it is displayed in Congress for a year. Information: (863) 647-4730/

Second Annual All-County Dance Festival

A dance festival featuring dance students from seven Polk schools will be held on Saturday, March 21, 7 p.m., at Davenport’s Ridge Community High. Tickets are $5 per person. Ridge Community High is located at 500 Orchid Drive, Davenport.

Performing will be students from Davenport School of the Arts, Harrison School of the Visual and Performing Arts (Lakeland), Hillcrest Elementary (Lake Wales), Jewett School of the Arts (Winter Haven), McLaughlin Middle and Fine Arts Academy (Lake Wales), Ridge Community High and Rochelle School of the Arts (Lakeland).

Middle School Band Concerts

Twenty-eight middle school bands will perform in concerts on March 19, 20 and 21 at Winter Haven High. The bands will perform in 30-minute intervals over the three days. The concerts are from 4 to 9 p.m. on both Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20. The concerts on Saturday, March 21 are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend during any part of the three days and there is no cost to attend. The event includes the music of concert bands, symphonic bands, wind ensembles and wind symphonies. Winter Haven High is located at 600 Sixth Street SE. Information: (863) 647-4727.
