Polk County Public Schools’ All-County Orchestra Concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Branscomb Auditorium on the Florida Southern College (FSC) campus, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive Lakeland, FL 33801.
“More than 230 students, representing nearly 40 secondary schools in Polk County, have been selected as All-County Orchestra Musicians and will be performing in the concert,” said Beth Cummings, Senior Coordinator for Music. “They have completed an arduous audition process and are certainly some of the finest musicians in Polk County.”

Seventh & Eight Grade All-County Orchestra
Victor Fernandez is currently the director of orchestras at Booker Middle School in Sarasota
and conductor of the Sarasota Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Fernandez was born and
raised in Havana, Cuba. He earned a bachelor of music/education/performance and a master's degree in music education from Florida State University. Previously he served as director of orchestras at Leon High School and Raa Middle School in Tallahassee, and orchestra director of the Wiregrass Youth Symphony in Dothan, Ala. Mr. Fernandez has served as district chair of the Florida Orchestra Association and continues to serve on the board.
Ninth & Tenth Grade All-County Orchestra
Jason Jerald is currently the director of orchestra studies at Howard W. Blake Magnet High
School for the Arts. Blake's orchestras have consistently earned superior ratings for
outstanding performances in both local and national assessments. Mr. Jerald is a graduate of Florida State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Cum Laude. He has served as a chairperson and guest clinician for several All-County and Solo & Ensemble events in Florida. Mr. Jerald recently completed a two-year term serving on the Florida Orchestra Association board as the Eleventh and Twelfth grade All-State Chair. Mr. Jerald has completed his master's degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Florida. Mr. Jerald conducted the Concert Strings and Junior Philharmonic Orchestra of the Patel Conservatory for six years. He now conducts the Philharmonic Orchestra of the new Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestras. He is also serving as a violist in the Tampa Opera Orchestra and directs the orchestra at Bible-Based Fellowship Church, Carrollwood.
Eleventh and Twelfth Grade All-County Orchestra
William Wiedrich is currently director of orchestral studies at the University of South Florida, Tampa. Mr. Wiedrich is also music director of the Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra which has appeared twice in Carnegie Hall. Mr. Wiedrich serves as guest and principal conductor to both Chinese and American students at Jinsha Summer Music Festival, in association with China's Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He has also served as guest conductor at the Interlochen Arts Academy. Mr. Wiedrich has appeared on numerous compact disc recordings as conductor and producer, most recently on the Albany, Blue Griffin, Capstone, Centaur and Koch labels. Mr. Wiedrich serves as artistic director of the Music, Etc. Chamber Arts Collective; a professional chamber ensemble dedicated to advancing new music into a permanent repertory. Mr. Wiedrich previously served on the faculty at East Carolina University and Michigan State University where he later earned his doctoral degree.
