Middle and high school students from nearly 60 schools perform in chorus concerts in day-long events. There is no admission charge and the public is welcome to attend during any part of the concerts schedule. The concerts schedule:
Wednesday, February 18, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Frostproof Middle-Senior, 1000 North Palm Avenue.
Thursday, February 19, 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 1:45 to 5:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive.
Friday, February 20, 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 2:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland.

The Superintendent’s 5K/Run Walk for Excellence will be held Saturday, February 21 at the Fort Fraser Trail in Highland City, south of Lakeland just off Highway 98 South. Parking on race day is available at the Jim Miles Professional Development Center, 5204 U.S. Highway 98 South, Lakeland.
Proceeds from the event benefit programs in the gifted student education department of the Polk Public Schools. A 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. followed by a Kids Fun Run at 9 a.m. There are no registration fees for children in kindergarten to fifth grade. Early registration is until February 13 and is $15. Registration after February 13 is $20. Race awards will be given out to male and female overall winners, male and female masters (40 and over) and the top three finishers in gender and age group divisions. Post-event food and drinks will be provided in the finish area. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. Those registering after February 13 will receive a T-shirt while supplies last. All Fun Run participants will receive a medallion.

The public is invited to view science projects submitted by middle and high school students in the Regional Science Fair. Public viewing of the projects will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 21 at the First Baptist Church of Bartow, 410 East Church Street. An awards ceremony will be held Saturday, February 21, 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the same location. The public is also invited to the awards ceremony. There is no cost to attend the public viewing or awards ceremony. Science fair research includes projects in botany, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, health and medicine and physics. The public is invited to a reception of the Polk County Kids Tag Art project. There is no cost to attend and the reception will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 21 at the Polk Museum of Art, 800 East Palmetto Street, Lakeland. The Kids Tag Art project was coordinated by the school district and seven community partners and involved fifth graders creating art for individual specialty license plates.
