33 Schools Recognized As Polk County Family Week Partners

Thirty-three Polk public schools completed requirements to be recognized as a 2009 Polk County Family Week Partner.

Polk County Family Week was a weeklong celebration held in November designed to help families grow strong together. Polk County Family Week included events and activities that involved private citizens, corporations, schools, non-profit agencies and government entities.

Included among the requirements that schools needed to do to be considered a Family Week Partner were:

• Encouraging families to eat lunch together at school
  
• Promotion of Polk County Family Week through school newsletters, Web site, signs or other school communication vehicles
  
• Featuring family values of caring, responsibility, respect and honesty on school in-house television channel
  
• Encouraging families to read together
  
• Hosting of a Family Night activity at school that could include a dinner, game night or talent show
  
• Distribution of Family Week flyers at schools

Lake Wales: Hillcrest Elementary, Janie Howard Wilson Elementary, McLaughlin Middle And Fine Arts Academy, Spook Hill Elementary
