Polk County Public Schools
The following public school students won Awards of Distinction in the 2007-2008 Polk County Kids Tag Art project coordinated by seven community partners.
In the project, fifth graders created art to be used for individual poly-vinyl specialty license plates. Thousands of designs were drawn by fifth graders in nearly 60 schools and judges chose the best designs for Awards of Distinction to be made into license plates. Proceeds from sales of the plates went to help fund elementary art programs.
Community partners involved with the project were Polk County Public Schools fifth graders and art teachers, Central Florida Eurocars of Lakeland, Douglass Screen Printing of Lakeland, Junior Women’s Club of Lakeland, Polk County Tax Collector’s Office, Polk Museum of Art and Ridge Art Association. This was the second year of the Kids Tag Art Project. The project raised more than $15,000 for elementary art programs during the inaugural year of the project during the 2006-2007 school year.
