The public is invited to a Tuesday, January 15, 2008 sales tax oversight committee meeting held at the school district’s administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the superintendent’s conference room.
The sales tax oversight committee, composed of community members, was formed by the school district after voters approved a 2003 referendum authorizing an additional ½-cent sales tax for school construction.

The Polk Public Schools are having an information session on Thursday, January 24 to recruit new teachers. The session will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday, January 24 in the Student Center of Polk Community College’s Winter Haven campus, 999 Avenue H NE, Winter Haven.
The meeting will discuss application requirements for individuals with the following qualifications:
--holding a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university but did not major in education
--holding a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in education
--holding a valid Florida certificate for full-time teaching
--holding a valid out-of-state certificate for full-time teaching
