The Polk County School District maintains an affiliation agreement with the FloridaVirtual School, an award winning educational community, providing services for motivated, technically proficient high school students. Students who desire access to courses not available at their home schools or who have other special needs will find FHS a valuable resource.
Currently, Daniel Jenkins Academy of Technology is utilizing the district's affiliation by providing lab classes for its students. Other schools have utilized FLVS to meet the specific needs of their students.
The Beacon Learning Center is a state and federal grant funded curriculum resource and training web site for students and faculty. Training is available in our district utilizing Polk district teachers and a collaboration of FDLRS Sunrise. Beacon offers more than 1700 lesson plans that are assessment based and are designed to teach the Sunshine State Standards.
