The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) is an accelerated method of academic study offered solely through the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), a division of the University of Cambridge. AICE provides a flexible, broad-based curriculum that is offered worldwide at schools and colleges in over 161 countries, and is recognized by the Florida State Department of Education as a rigorous curriculum.
For schools that offer AICE courses, eligible students may take specific AICE courses in isolation, or work to earn an AICE diploma. To earn an AICE diploma, students must pass seven credits worth of college-level examinations that are given at the end of AICE courses – beginning in the 9th grade. At least one examination must come from each of the three subject groups: Mathematics & Sciences, Languages, Arts & Humanities with an optional group 4: Interdisciplinary & Skills Based Subjects, as well as the mandatory course AS Global Perspectives and Research.
For the 2018-19 school year, AICE courses are available for eligible students at Winter Haven Senior High School.
There will be two free informational nights for current eighth grade students regarding the high school program and the registration process: November 1, and November 6, beginning at 6:00pm at the Winter Haven Senior High School Cafeteria. If you have questions please contact Nikki Jordan at Winter Haven High School (863-291-5330).
