Defined:
A student subject to compulsory school attendance that has an accumulative record of tardiness or has had at least five unexcused absences, or absences for which the reasons are unknown, within a calendar month or 10 unexcused absences, or absences for which the reasons are unknown, within a 90-calendar-day or has had more than 15 unexcused absences in a 90-calendar-day period
Who to call:
1) If a minor is in a public place without adult supervision during school hours, please call your local police department or Crimestoppers at 1-800-226-8477 for immediate enforcement/investigation.
2) Truancy tips can also be phoned in to the local school or to the District Attendance Office at 863-534-0022
Reinstatement:
If you have received a letter stating your driver’s license will be suspended for school non- attendance and you are ready to have your license re-instated please call your school office.
Hardship Waivers:
A hardship waiver provides the student an opportunity to maintain his/her driving privilege during the period of time it takes the student to comply with the Attendance Requirements. Waivers may be granted for a minor under the school’s jurisdiction for whom a personal or family hardship requires that the minor have a driver’s license for his or her own, or his or her family’s, employment or medical care.
