District 3 - Hazel Sellers, Board Chair
Biography
Hazel Sellers is currently serving her third four-year term and is currently the Board Chair. She is a life-long resident of Florida, originally from Leesburg, located in Lake County. Mrs. Sellers is retired from the Polk County school system where she worked as a classroom teacher and at the district office as a Gifted Facilitator in the ESE Department. She earned her BS Degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University and holds Masters’ Degrees in Reading Education and Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. Mrs. Sellers serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida School Boards Association and is a Trustee of the Florida Education Investment Trust Fund. In addition, she serves on the Guardian Ad Litem’s Speak Up for Children Board and on the Board of InnerAct Alliance. She has served as former President of the Florida Association for the Gifted. She is a member of the Bartow Rotary and Zonta Clubs. Mrs. Sellers is also a member and an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Bartow.
