The overall grade for the school district is a B. Polk's grade summary : A-53; B-26; C-26; D-8; F-1. 69 percent of Polk schools received an A or B. 92 percent of Polk schools received an A, B or C. Visit the Florida Department of Education Website at www.fldoe.org to check for an individual school's grade and a complete FCAT grade summary or click here for a list of all school grades.
As an energy conservation and cost savings measure, the school board has authorized a four-day (Mon-Thurs), ten-hour work week, starting the week of June 8. The district will return to its normal five-day schedule starting with the week of August 17. Hours will vary by location.

The 2009-10 public schools budget, when compared to two years ago, will be 7.2 per cent lower or $17.9 billion next year compared to $19.3 billion two years ago.

Polk County Public Schools are offering a Free Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Summer Program called "More at Four." The program will be offered at 5 locations for 8 weeks, Monday through Thursday from 7:15 am to 5:00 pm. For more information please call 863-648-3047.
