Friday December 19th at 5:00pm is the deadline for Random News Show #2. Submit one show on Mini-DV tape for the week of 12/8/08 through 12/12/08. The entry needs to accompany the Random Show 2 Submission Form.
The Just Read, Florida! Office in the Department of Education (DOE), in partnership with other DOE offices and numerous other state organizations and agencies, is planning a statewide “Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!” event, scheduled for the week of January 12-16, 2009.
As a part of the week’s events and activities, there will also be a statewide contest asking students to create a public service announcement (PSA) that celebrates and promotes the importance of literacy in the state of Florida.

Discovering Composite Modes
Composite Modes use a clip's color, saturation, or lightness properties to create special effects and show clips beneath it. For example, a black and white image (known as a matte) can be easily cut out to allow video to show through the white (or black) portions of the matte.
Here is a more visual example:
Below is the image of a typical black and white image matte in the shape of a star.
Using composite modes, we can make the white portions of the image matte transparent and allow video to show through. You can see the star image matte's effect in the examples below.
Image mattes are very simple to create, however, I have included a zip file with 10 mattes that I've created for anyone to use. Examples of each matte are below.
